Keep the original profile source

A colleague collecting Toutiao authors will often share profile links rather than identifiers. Confirm that the link belongs to the intended author, then supply it as user_profile_url. An article URL and a profile URL are different inputs, even though both open in a browser. Preserve the original source so you can later explain why this author entered the research list.

Treat the identifier as a connection point

This operation returns a user ID. It establishes the identifier needed for further account work; it does not certify professional expertise or automatically gather every article. Associate the result with the profile you checked. If the source points to the wrong person, correct that source before enriching the record. The size of an identifier is not evidence of account age or influence.

Build an author card that survives renaming

For a hypothetical local-culture reading project, record the ID, profile link, inclusion reason, and verification date. Keep the nickname only as observed display information. When citing an article, retain its individual source as well; an author card is not evidence for the article’s claims. If several inputs resolve to the same ID, review them before merging and preserve their separate provenance notes. The result is a maintainable research index, not an unverified ranking of authors.

Request URL and parameters

GET https://api.trmesh.com/openapi/api/v1/toutiao/app/get_user_id

Parameter Type Required Meaning
user_profile_url string Yes User profile URL

Run the Python example

Install requests and set TRMESH_API_TOKEN in your environment. Replace the sample identifiers with the public object you intend to inspect. Example IDs may no longer be available.

import os
import requests
