The editorial meeting starts in thirty minutes, and you need several overseas discussion leads. Reddit's popular feed offers a starting point, but prominent posts are not automatically the most important events for your publication. Decide what kinds of leads you need before collecting candidates.

Fix the observation settings

Choose a sorting method and time range appropriate to the meeting. Keep those choices with the results instead of mixing fresh posts and broad popularity rankings into one table. Record the language setting as well. The feed is a recommendation sample, not an inventory of all Reddit activity.

Read beyond the popularity signal

The contract describes post information including titles, content, votes, and comment counts; use the fields actually returned. Distinguish news links, personal accounts, jokes, and arguments. Write one sentence explaining why each candidate deserves editorial attention. Popularity can prioritize reading, but factual claims still require checking against their sources.

Hand over leads with their boundaries

Continue using returned pagination information when more candidates are needed, deduplicating by post identity. Filtering already-seen posts changes the sample, so retain that choice. Bring a short list with source references, observation time, context, and unanswered questions. Absence from the feed does not establish lack of interest, and votes do not represent every user's position. The purpose is to guide further reporting.
