Replace a cropped screenshot with a source
When preparing a comparison article, someone may send you a screenshot of a Reddit discussion. Start with the original post_id and inspect the post details before using its strongest sentence. Define the research question narrowly: is the author describing installation trouble or a trade-off between features? A cropped image cannot establish what the wider community believes.
Keep a referenced comment attached to its post
The request provides language and need_format options. Choose the representation that helps your reading workflow, remembering that cleaned data has not thereby been fact-checked. If your task concerns a particular comment, examine the roles of include_comment_id and comment_id and make sure the cited material belongs to the intended discussion. Do not splice an answer from a different thread into the apparent context.
Prepare a citation review card
For a hypothetical installation example, record the source link, retrieval date, proposed excerpt, and environment details still requiring verification. Your retrieval date is not the author’s publication date. Revisit the original discussion before publication and distinguish one person’s experience from broadly applicable instructions. A details request does not certify the advice or grant republication rights. Keep the final quotation limited to what your argument needs, with a clear source and appropriate context.
